I certainly think it's worth learning the Calypso API but just as important is to get a good grasp of post-trade processing in capital markets. If you can understand the business needs and resolve problems quickly by leveraging the Calypso API, then you'll be adding value to any bank or financial institution and it's a good way to achieve job security.
